3 Questions for a Liberal Profession

This interview series aims to promote liberal professions and inform youth on academic and professional possibilities.


The National Union of Liberal Professions (UNAPL) of Ile-de-France is the main professional organisation representing the sector of liberal professions in France. It federates 68 trade union organisations representing the professions in Health, Law, Living Environment and Techniques.

Dietician Nutrionist

Focused on helping people improve their lifestyle, Aurélie Lebrasseur potentiates their diets as a vector for health. She reminds us that food is a source of pleasure, gathering, and sharing.

Having first worked within hospital services, in her current liberal practice she keeps collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide a holistic support to her patients. Continuous training is also at the core of her profession to provide up-to-date workshops on topics such as environmental health or perinatal care.

She hopes for the Olympics of Paris 2024 to highlight the added value of nutrition in people's lifestyles, in line with physical activity and mental health.

Land Surveyor

Ardent about scientific techniques and aspiring to be his own boss, Guillaume Géneau developed a passion for the profession of land surveyor and the liberal practice.

A true “Swiss army knife”, the surveyor is on the lookout for technological innovations to improve his practice and carry out projects adapted to local realities and needs. 

Guillaume also finds happiness in transmitting his passion for the profession by training young people.

Interior Architect

Fanny Bon followed her dream to become an interior architect by taking evening classes while working in a decoration company. Facing the limits of organisational hierarchies, she became a certified entrepreneur.

She closely works with her clients to understand their needs and offer a built environment that best suits them.

Conscious of climate change, she currently pursues energy renovation and eco-construction through collaboration.

Occupational Therapist

Initially wanting to work with children as a paediatrician, Tiffany Serna oriented her career to occupational therapy.

She now collaborates with paediatricians to help her young patients develop autonomy in their handicap and overcome limitations in their everyday life.

Her ambitions include opening a pluri-disciplinary clinic of medical and paramedical professionals.

Intellectual Property Attorney

Accompanying start-ups with a  long-term and global perspective is at the heart of this profession.

Jean-Charles Nicollet shares his 14 years of experience of building relationships with clients and  providing them with solutions adapted to their needs and vision.

He tackles the expanding NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and the Metaverse, and their legal framework in need of innovation.

Curator - Restorer

Transferring collections to next generations is the mission of restorers.

At the confluence of a craft and a manual practice, Clara Huynh combines chemistry, and the history of art and techniques.

Beyond repair, restoration is preventive, and collaboration between specialists is central to her profession, supporting the shared value of public goods.

Construction Economist

Determined to combine conception with business, Etienne Huguet trained originally as a carpenter, which gave him a theoretical and realistic approach beneficial to his current work and collaborations.

Ecologically and environmentally engaged, he tries to bring the most comprehensive technical, economical  and environmental process to his clients' energy renovations.

Doctor in Veterinary Ophthalmology

Having a passion for animals, Valérie Meunier chose to put human medicine at their service.

Always independent, she opened a clinic in 2009 with another veterinarian, after conducting mobile interventions for 16 years in the Paris region.

She currently works to train the young generation to tackle the critical lack of veterinarians in France.

Administrative Receiver

Working with companies in financial distress has lead Patrick Prigent to manage the impact of national and international crises on big and small businesses.

Independence from all actors reveals central to the accomplishment of each of his missions.

Maintaining and expanding this model of independence internationally is a current and future undertaking.

Receiver for the protection of adults

François-Xavier David shares his work to support vulnerable adults, by promoting their freedom and autonomy, in line with their aspirations.

Fieldwork and collaboration with families are the heart of his practice. It involves intervening in times of crisis and often engaging in long-term mandates.

He also works to promote his profession in the face of an aging population and associated demographic challenges.

Translator - Interpretor

Building 'bridges between cultures' is the essence of Debora Farji Haguet's profession.

She helps people communicate their ideas and collaborate.

Translation and interpretation are polymorphic practices that encompass written and audiovisual content, working at a desk or in live situations. 

It also brings her to work in diverse fields, including sciences, arts, and politics.

Chartered Accountant

Working with entrepreneurs and CEOs is what motivated Gilles Bösiger to enter this profession.

As freelance, his capacity as business executive allows him to better accompany other executives, and bring added value to their needs.

A core human aspect of his practice evolves around understanding the unexpressed needs and emotional experience of his clients.

Sophrologist

After working for 25 years in marketing agencies, it's through her own therapy that Isabelle Berthé chose to become a freelance sophrologist.

Her practice aims to help people train in self-management, regarding emotions as well as chronic stress and pain.

She currently works with organisations to improve the personal quality of life in the workplace.

Medical Biologist

During medical school, Arthur Clément decided to follow his father's footsteps by combining a doctor's practice with an expertise in biology.

Through his family laboratory, he works on genetics and medically assisted procreation, helping couples become families.

Collaboration between medical practitioners is put at service of patients, by bringing an expertise to their doctors.

Physiotherapist-Osteopath

Gérald Coutaye trained in physiotherapy, sophrology and ostheopathy to provide an interdisciplanary therapeutic approach to his patients.

The magic in his practice appears through instant results in the alleviation of pain.

As freelance, his responsibility is solely to his patients.  It allows him to be himself, work in various contexts, and learn continuously.

Court Bailiff

Motivated to pursue a dynamic career in law, out of the office and in contact with people, Antoine Feuvrier chose to practice as freelance.

In his work, he faces diverse situations, from a cybersecurity office to the tunnels beneath Paris.

Humanity and respect are the heart of this profession, in which delicate and difficult situations arise.

Architect

Similar to doctors with their patients, architects analyse constructions and prescribe what needs to be done for improvements and prevention.

Beyond the infrastructure, Emira Zaag works for the people who reside in the buildings she attends to.

She now contributes to the development of sustainable architecture and urbanisation in African cities.

Dental Surgeon

Independence, durable relationships, and the capacity to bring back a smile are the reasons why Marie-Christine Barbotin chose to set her practice as freelance.

As the "neighborhood dentist", she accompanies diverse patients, from children to their grandparents.

Collaboration and the restructuration of dentistry as a freelance profession is at the core of her current work.
