Bayanihan

What is the recipe for home-making when Filipinas roll together?

As anti-immigrant policies gain amplitude in Europe's increasingly right-wing political climate, a community of Philippine migrants invites us into the heart of their organised efforts, humorous friendships, and resilient grit.

While preparing their contributions to an anti-racist festival week-end in Athens, they reveal their stories, struggles, and 'bayanihan' to a group of Anthropology students.

This short ethnographic film made in only two weeks is the result of a collaboration with Kasapi Hellas, a Filipino non-profit organisation based in Athens. The film was co-directed, filmed and edited by Lecyca Curiel, Svenja Holzhausen, and Guillaume Bury. They co-produced it in 2023 with the Netherlands Institute in Athens.
